Challenges and Solutions

Before taking Candice’s course, people told me SAT math was easy, it was easy to get a perfect score. Since I was good at math and maintained top scores, I assumed that I could get a perfect score without much effort.

However, when practicing those questions by myself, I found several issues that I couldn’t solve. There were even math terms that I had never seen before, not to mention getting a perfect score. One of the biggest challenges in SAT math was dealing with terminology that’s rarely taught in regular schools or some words that have different meanings. For example, I was used to the word “average,” but “mean” was used in tests. To solve these issues, I started looking up these words online and writing them down. And then I’d remember seeing them before when I came across them again when writing questions. Of course, the teacher emphasized these math terms during lessons to strengthen my memorization.

Another challenge was questions with longe paragraphs that we were unfamiliar with. Sometimes I lost focus, reread the same line multiple times, or could not understand the meaning of a certain number in questions. With the teacher’s guidance, I was able to overcome this.

Thankfully, I joined Candice’s class on time. The teacher would carefully walk through key concepts and solutions, and then help me find my weak points. Thus, I was able to achieve a perfect score in SAT math when I had stress dealing with Taiwan’s General SAT, the SAT, and my school exams at the same time.

Thoughts

After joining Candice’s class, the teacher explained each concept in detail and asked students to practice similar questions right after. When I got stuck in the question, a simple eye contact could get the teacher’s attention and come to help. Sometimes, the teacher even invited students to demonstrate their calculation processes on the board.

Candice is very friendly so there’s no need to be afraid of asking questions. The teacher is always patient to explain, just to ensure students understand. Additionally, Candice gave students her contact information. When I had test issues at home, I could still ask questions to avoid getting stuck in not understanding how to solve the question.

Aside from the assignments in class, Candice also provided us with workbooks with past SAT questions to practice. Before the actual SAT, I simply followed assignments from the teacher without spending extra time. I achieved a perfect score in math so I believe the methods the teacher provided are helpful enough and sufficient. If you’re looking for effective strategies to achieve a high score in a short time, I highly recommend Candice’s class!
